About Our School

The Tidewater Ukrainian School is a Saturday school in the Hampton Roads area for children starting from toddler age. It was founded by Americans of Ukrainian heritage with support from the Tidewater Ukrainian Cultural Association (TUCA). The school’s goal is to keep the Ukrainian language and culture alive in the community by offering classes in Ukrainian language, history, crafts, music, and dance.

Our mission is straightforward: to educate and inspire the next generation of Americans with Ukrainian heritage through our classes and special events. We aim to connect our students to their Ukrainian roots and help them appreciate the culture’s richness and diversity.

At the Tidewater Ukrainian School, learning goes beyond traditional subjects. We are a vibrant community where students and their families can participate in Ukrainian cultural festivals and events. These activities strengthen the ties among our community members and celebrate our shared heritage.

Looking ahead, we are committed to continuing our work. We want to ensure that Ukrainian culture is not just remembered but actively practiced and cherished by our students. The Tidewater Ukrainian School isn’t just about education; it’s a place where young people can grow a strong sense of identity and pride in their Ukrainian heritage.

We invite you to join us in this important mission. Together, we can make sure that the richness of Ukrainian culture is known and celebrated here in Hampton Roads.
